But I am asking you to acquaint yourself with people who have it harder, share their vulnerabilities, and still choose to come out of it well.

What do you listen to? What do you read?
What resources to achieve goals are you currently utilizing?
Our brain is wired to find negativity so it is important to feed your mind with information that helps you grow as an individual.

Do frequent self-reflection to catch yourself whenever you speak negatively about a situation or yourself.
Seek out meditation to achieve goals.

Focus on genuine curiosity towards how things work in life
- – Try something you have not done before
I took up Muay Thai at the gym – it wasn’t something my friends would have guessed but I wanted to build my growth mindset by doing something scary and new.
You have no idea how it affects other parts of your life.
Life, after all, isn’t linear.
2. Design Your Goals So That It Is Purposeful & Meaningful
Our life isn’t just about ourselves – if it is, it would not be meaningful. Focus on having a goal that benefits other people.
For example, instead of thinking about how you will achieve USD 1,000,000 by the time you are 35, design your goal to give back to the community or your family with that money.
It makes the journey so much sweeter.
3. Accept That You Cannot Do It All
I know deep down we all have goals for the different aspects of our lives ranging from:

But it is IMPOSSIBLE to achieve all of it. You will get overwhelmed and abandon it at the first sight of trouble/ anxiety.

What is it about your health that you want to fix? Is it 1 pound per month? If so, by when? What will you do to support that goal?
It has to be SO minute that you almost won’t guarantee to fail!
4. Create A Ritual Around Your Most Ambitious Goals
After breaking down your goals into smaller, easier goals, buffer in celebrations for quick wins.
For example, instead of waiting to celebrate the 15-pound weight loss, celebrate the fact that you take a 20-minute walk daily!
Focus on the consistent actions you have been taking rather than the outcome.
Make sure this is designed into your timeline for your goals to be achieved.
5. Condition Your Mind

It will be painful, make you question your self-worth and decisions, and even make you regret going down this path.

Even at his level, he never took it for granted – so again, I ask you – how much are you willing to give up for a better life for yourself and your family?

Where you want to go is where most people don’t and that is why the road is hard and you need to accept that.

7. Ask Yourself What Does The Alternative Look Like
Let’s say your goal is to be an accomplished writer by the time you are 40.
What does life look like if you don’t hit your goal?
So, close your eyes right now and immerse yourself in the experience of what being 40 will look like.
You are bitter, resentful, and angry at an admin job you have to work for the rest of your life while putting your ambitious goal of being a writer in a closet.
Do you want that for yourself?
I will be honest; I don’t know if I am going to hit all my goals in my life but I know that I won’t stop trying!
8. Be Relentless About Your Goals

Meditate on what success feels like. Study, practice, make mistakes, and TRY again and again.

As a solopreneur myself, I can assure you, that it gets lonely. There is no one to talk to about my plans and ambitions. It was tough getting used to.
I had to say no to countless social events, cut out friendships that were not serving me, and even give up quality time with my kids but I kept my eye on the ultimate prize.
I wasn’t going to go down without a fight – neither should you!
10. Look Back At Your Past Wins

You have done well for yourself – even if you feel you don’t like it.
Some examples of past success you might have forgotten:
- – Pushing through crazy workloads that eventually resulted in a promotion (I once worked till 5 am and reported to work the next day at 8 am)
- – Climbing a mountain when you had zero to little preparation (hiked up a beautiful mountain in Sabah, Malaysia)
- – Volunteer to be a Catholic Marriage Preparation Counsellor (even if my marriage is far from perfect)
11. Include Buffers
Life happens. I have a goal of losing 30 pounds in a year but I am also realistic about it.
I am a mom to two toddlers and my stress levels are at an all-time high. Everything from the lack of sleep to the multiple tantrums the kids have.
I know I will hate myself if I don’t include buffers. For example, I scaled down my goal to something more realistic. For example, walk for 15 minutes around the house.
Hey, I started with 0 minutes so this is progress, okay?
But this is what buffers mean. You aren’t just your goals – you are an actual human being.
12. Practice Self-Care
Because you are going to be alone in this journey toward greatness, you are going to need to prioritize yourself. Both your physical and mental health.
What has helped me is the following:
- – Signing up for Muay Thai at the gym (when I can’t even tell my left leg from my right 😉
- – Attending networking events to boost my social circle with fellow entrepreneurs
- – Listen to podcasts (I am a big Andrew Huberman fan!)
- – Go for a walk around the house instead of grabbing another chocolate bar to soothe my anxiety
- – Go for a monthly massage
- – Read self-development books at least 15 minutes a day to broaden my mind
- – Take a cold shower in the morning (this teaches me to push through my discomfort to set me on my day)
